PvE and PvP Gameplay

In Age of Conan there are two types of gameplay. PvE (Player versus Environment) and PvP (Player versus Player). However, there are three types of servers to choose from: PvE, PvP and RP-PvP. The last of the three choices is for Roleplayers. Roleplaying involves staying in character while in the game for a more immersive experience. The RP-PvP servers include extra rules of conduct.

PvE - Player versus Environment
On PvE servers players kill computer generated characters rather than each other. NPCs (Non-Player Characters, also known as "Mobs" taken from the term "Mobile Objects") will fight back when attacked and if you are successful in your attempt to kill the NPC, you will be rewarded with XP (Experience Points) and whatever the NPC is carrying in their inventory. NPCs will often drop items such as coin and armor.
